Pedals are fun, but when they cost anywhere from 50 to 250 to buy, id rather have all my effects sitting in front of my for almost nothing Not unless you build your own... This might be foreshadowing of another thread popping up in the DIY board here soon...

But might I suggest you start with a simple circuit like a clean boost or a overdrive? At least you'll get used to soldering (if you aren't already).
