This one is a modeling amp though. Gives a wide range of tones I love to use. Especially the 80's AC/DC feel

Eh, I don't really them. I don't really like modelling amps. They are okay.

Blackstar has a really good one out now. It is clear, gives good power and something like 150 tones to choose from preset. Supposed to take the place of a tube or valve

I know, I know. I've read it all. Modelling amps bore me though, also, they lack that certain icy twang that you can only get from a tube amp.

Regardless of how good modeling is getting to emulating tube, and one day it will be basically damn perfect, I still would rather have an actual tube amp for the nostalgia. No other reason. Just that.

And here in a little bit I'll post up something showing how they actually emulate that, by the way.

I think, if you can afford it, buy a tube amp, buy a sixties fender, whatever you want. It's just like fucking cars, yeah sure, you can probably get a new car which blows a 60's car out of the water, but which is worth more?

Gonna be honest G-Man. Sometimes the new car is worth more, haha. If it is a rare, hard to find, old car.. Different story though. Back to the subject.. I like modeling stuff now after trying it. Not tubes for sure.. But you know what? I have a bad back, so fuck carrying a 50 pound combo 1x12 tube amp. I'll carry my POD floor unit, my Variax, and a small 8" Full Range active PA cab and call it a day. The audience doesn't know what the hell you're using.. Nor do they really give a crap. As long as the band itself sounds decent, that's all that matters.. And I do know a few people who have mastered the modeling thing.. And recorded, you would probably be heart pressed to tell weather It's an amp or model.

Well, yeah, maybe the car isn't the best example, but you know what I mean.
Anyway, just get three things that do the job 'well'. Fuck that.
I want some excitement.

I have more flexibility in my sound though. And I don't need all those fancy pedals, though I have some.

They're both fun, IMO.

Pedals are fun, but when they cost anywhere from 50 to 250 to buy, id rather have all my effects sitting in front of my for almost nothing
