How easy is it to read a schematic. Honestly i have looked at them and they seem really confusing at first. I am wanting to make a chorus pedal.
That leads me to another question.. How do you tweak how the pedal sounds. I know changing quality of parts helps but what about the small tweaks within the board?

reading the prints isn't hard as long as you know what the symbols mean, and the intended purpose of the circuits. to understand how to tweak them, you need to understand electronics. i reccomend finding an amp builders forum, and have them guide you as to where to go for learning. learn it right, because doing it wrong can kill you

To adjust the way your pedal alters the signal it is given, you will need to change values of the components. Your circuit will many times be very similar to another pedal, but the components will be different.
The simplest example is OD pedal 1 has a 10k ohm resistor. OD pedal 2 has a 1k ohm resistor. OD pedal 1 will have a higher gain stage than OD pedal 2.

You just have to know what the symbols mean like kuma said. But be careful, the slightest detail makes all the difference.

you totally ca learn it. you're a smart enough guy. they make amp kits, pedal kits, you can buy mod kits. there is alot out there. if you find a forum for this sort of thing, it will surprise you how much info is available to you for free. times like that i love the innernets
