Well...
I went in to GC today to get my money from the gig this past weekend (bass player works there and the singer brings cash to him after he cashes the check(s)). I intend on using the money to get some Gibby Burstbuckers and put em in my SG.
Rewind to a few months (and even up until a few weeks) ago, I had been researching the Egnaters. Seeing that I have my hands in a couple different styles and I already have a Mesa that will do the Mark and Recto sounds well, I got another NAD a few weeks ago [...shit! I guess I'll add that one in here too. Ha] in a Fender Stage 160 combo my brother gave me, and I needed a good Brit style amp...the Egnaters seemed like a good choice in my price point.
The Fender is solid state, but let me tell you...it is the best sounding solid state I've ever heard. Fender had a gem in this one. I have no idea how it didn't become more popular. My dad swore up and down it was tube when he first heard it. It just has that response and richness that comes with valves. Anyways, anyways...the sunovva bitch is LOUD. I love loud. So I love this amp. And the plus is, it really does sound great! Haha
I digress. The Egnater. So I was in GC, had gotten the cash and the bass player and I ran into our drummer picking up a cymbal he had ordered. So we're chit chatting and my eyes glance over at the Marshall DSLs that I've been drooling over lately and my eye caught something else. A clearance tag. On the Egnater that I'd been wanting for longer. Boom. A $900 retail clearance for $324. Foot switch included. Suck deez nuts baby.
Just to be sure, I compared it with several guitars and cabs with the DSL. OBVIOUSLY, the Marshall had the high-mid response with high gain that I probably would have liked more out of the Egnater, but let's be honest...for $300 it sounds great (not to mention all the tonal possibilities) and throwing a TS9 in front will help with the midrange and tightening that ass up. Plus, it'll be of more use with the gigging I'm doing playing country/rock stuff.
I'm pleased. Ryan, I'm ready for the shit storm, but I'll be tone stacking this guy and the Mesa from now on! Hahaha
