i've been w/o a decent computer for months. i spent big bux buying a smoking fast i-7 gaming rig for my step son, who is a great kid, and totally deserved the hook up. he's also a bad-ass artist, in the future i'm gonna post some of his stuff cause i know you guys are gonna dig it.. but i digress. the same week i bought his rig, my ancient dell system died. i laid it to rest with full honors, having served me above and beyond dell's design specs for about 8 or 9 yrs. so since hune, anytime i have posted anywhere it's using his rig, when he isn't shooting, killing, cutting and slashing. the rig i bought will be used as kind of a high powered all-in-one, and i didn't need quite the speed that he employs. it wil be used to play movies (we dont watch television) for my other passion, flight simulator, and for general computing, and later, when i get a soundcard, for my music. so this is what i ordered just a couple hours ago. i got the last of these computers, they were a discontinued rig on special this month only: www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229473www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/asus-asus-27-led-monitor-with-2-ms-response-time-vg278he-black-vg278he/10225074.aspx?path=0b87998d326efe1368758ed22b03688een02

When I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot, so my folks got me one of the flight simulators (I wanna say it was 3?). I played it ALL THE TIME. Unfortunately, my eyesight is so terrible now I could never be a pilot. But I could really get around to getting a rig like this to delve into the imagination and at least pretend I am a little more. Maybe once I'm out of school and have a positive monthly income. Haha
Have fun with it man, I know it's a good time!

Going to be buying a "PC" myself. I'm opting for a more basic system, though. Dual-Core G2030 (3.00GHz), 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, and giving Win8 a try now that supposedly some bugs are worked out. $480 through Newegg. It's well more than enough to run Mixcraft Pro 6 and Steve Slate Drums.. Since that's what I'll really be using it for. Still won't hold a candle to my MAC, but It'll work well enough. Really wanted to go for an all-in-one touch screen, but the price for what you get just isn't practical.. Especially when I already have a 22" flatscreen LCD sitting in my room unused. I guess if I really wanted to, I could just get a touchscreen monitor.. They have them for like, $250.

The computer i just bought has an AMD Fx-6300 six core processor in it. I over clocked it at 4.8ghz. I have 64 gigs of ram and 8 TB HDD. The video card is top of the line and cannot remember what it is. The mother board is the Monster Board. Oh and it runs in bluray

16GB Ram, 2x 1TB HDD, great video/audio card. 12-core. It runs the newest version of MAC OSX.. And cost me $500. It was one week old when I bought it. LOL

just a quickie update. they seem to be here already - purolater tried yesterday but of course i wasn't home. i called them and set it up so that they would come back with it on friday, when i have off. but the slip says they have 2 boxes. that seems to me that must be my monitor also. well, seems to me, so far, these guys may have hit a 2nd home run. we'll see what comes to me tomorrow. i'll be cleaning my desk in preparation. i am a little excited. i hate being w/o a computer, and having the sim back on a fast enough rig just butters my biscuit. this is what my desk looked like before the old computer died (right now it's a train wreck)

wow - i gotta tell ya i didnt see it coming. never in my life have i dealt with a company who dealt in deliberate obsfuscation, prevarication, snd deliberate misinformation. purolator. they left a note on my door on tues saying "we tried to drop off your stuff T 11:35 am but you weren't home." so i called them that night and arranged to have them dropped off on friday. i called again on wednesday when i got notice (tracking) the monitor was also in town. so they assured me, fri, both packages. thursday, i get an automated call telling me my packages are awaiting pick up at the depot. so i call customer service. i get ther same lady. she remembers me. she assures me my packages are coming on friday. so wanna guess what happened? 2:30 rolls around, and i call them. where are they? waiting for me to pick them up at the depot. so i tell them about the other lady. she says they'll put them on a truck and bring them out. she'll call back she says. but she didn't so i called them again. the next lady says she never heard of anyone by the name the last lady gave me, assured me SHE would get it out to me on a truck, and that SHE was the one who really would call me back. liar again! so i call someone else. i tell her about the other calls, and i tell her i wantr a refrence number for our conversation. she says she will fix and call me back well she actually did call back and tell me it was on a truck and would be delivered betweeen 6 and 9 pm. so the driver calls at 7:30 and wants to know where my place is, i'm next he says. i tell him, he says a few minutes he'll be here. he called back 4 more times until he finally showed up at 8:50. he handled my boxes roughly, and was indifferent when i called him on it. so for whatever reason, i had to re install windows 7, just like i did with the boys computer. then i had to re install all the drivers. then came office for the wife, and eleventy hundred updates that contained bad display drivers. once my sims arrive and i get them running, i'll post a pic. right now i'm just happy to be running a stable copy of windows

How about an update? so, the post i made above was after wrestling with that computer for hours and hours to get it to accept it's video card. but something else went kablooey with the video, so i sent it back. they gave me a store credit and i picked out another one: www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227504i ordered it monday night about 9 o'clock. guess what showed up here while i was at work today at noon? yep - that's flippin fast! 'cept, while it came at noon, i was not here to recieve it. so it went back on the truck. i called and arranged to have it delivered on friday. but THIS TIME i got a name and a confirmation number, so if there is any problem, i got proof of the conversation. so this computer has a few things the other didnt have, like the s.s. drive for the o/s. this one also sports a 3G radeon card. it's an experiment, for me. i have only ever used nvidea cards, but the problems i saw on their forum kinda made me think i should tray out an amd card and see what they are like. one of the things it has. i don't really know what it does. it has bluetooth. i thought that was the think that you clipped on your ear and then drove around talking to the empty seat in your car? but anyhow, i kept the monitor because it's perfect and everything looks really great. so hopefully, on friday the new computer will arrive like it's sposed to, and will actually work this time. oh, and the last one had orange glowy things. i think this one has blue?
