On so many forums that I have paged through, informational sites ("informational") that I have browsed.. All I see is nothing but Squier bashing. Lets set a few things straight. They are fantastic guitars for the money. You seriously, might be heart pressed to beat them. Especially today's Squier guitars. Did you know that in 2005, Squier began an overhaul of its QC crew across the pond (or across the middle east for some)? We are now just starting to reap those rewards of better QC at the Squier factory. The Vintage Modern (VM) series and the Classic Vibe (CV) series are being regarded by many Squier enthusiasts as some of the best Squier guitars in production since the JV and prior model Squiers from the 80's. Some even say that the VM series might just be better, than that of the 80's model Squiers. Either way.. They have come a long way in the past 8 years now. I wouldn't be ashamed to buy a Squier and tell everyone what it is.
Just putting all of this out there.

My squier was(is) a fantastic guitar, and it was a starter pack kinda guitar.
I think part of the problem is that its a guitar that people commonly play when they are starting out. They fixate the memories and struggles of learning how to play with that guitar, and I think thats why they think its a bad guitar.

For the price, my strat affinity, really, really, shouldn't be this good.

For the price, my strat affinity, really, really, shouldn't be this good. agreed. i play an am std now, but the affity i had really was a good guitar for the money. there are differences between them. but do they justify the disparity in price? i'm not so sure they do. but there is a weird paradox i have noticed. if i sell my am std, i wont get as much for it as i would if i parted it out. the sum of the parts is worth more than the whole. however, the squier is the opposite. the whole is worth more than the sum of it's parts. the strat is the only guitar i know of that does this. les paul's dont. prs' dont. gretch dont, bc rich doesn't either. maybe a little bit with the tele, bu not like the strat. i think we have evh to thank for that. one way to look at it is this way: if you had cash in hand for the initial hit you take depreciating a high end strat, you could buy the top of the line hss affinity pack with the g-dec amp, brand spankin new

hey, you know, when i got the affinity it was a trade for an ovation celebrity that i hated more than one should hate an inanimate object. i got the amp from kijiji (a classified ad site, i dont know if they have where you are) but i bought the amp in nearly new condish for $40. i was on another forum and i complained about a couple of things i didnt like about the amp. a guy on the forum said he could "fix" those things, and would do it for the cost of parts. so i agreed. he came to my house, picked up the amp, and a week later, i handed him a whopping $20 and he handed me an amp that will really surprise you. he changed a couple of pots and caps, and i kid you not man, if i had a way for you to hear this amp, you'd never believe it was a little frontman reverb. in fact you could play it yourself, and not believe. it's dramatic how much better it is. i mean, it's still a little s.s. practice amp with a tiny little spkr. but it's got a good little tone. not quite as nice as the cube i had, but surprisingly good. i wish i could remember who the hell that guy was. i got a wish list for this lil nite train. hahahaha

I like the Frontman series. The 212R (I swear) will be as known as one of the better SS amps in history.

I'll admit, the stock 15g is pretty bad, but, once again, good for the price.
