Alright, heres what I came up with. The first image with the 2 items is from Guitar Fetish. The rest is from guitarpartsonline.com Nothing is by any means set in stone, and Im not even sure if I have everything yet, but this is what Im going for. I think Ill end up getting the pickguard from Guitar Fetish because its cheaper. This is the color scheme Im going for: This is Guitar Fetish stuff... And this is guitarpartsonline...

Looks like you got your bases covered as far as parts Sean. Gold isn't my hardware color of choice (tarnish and discolors too much to me) but it should match well with that body color choice. Looking good man. yes, if you're going to keep the guitar forever, then that does change things some. but only to remove resale value from the list of considerations. the other factors remain. i do agree that what matters most is that the instrument fulfills your needs above anyone else's opinions. and that's why i tried to word it the way i did. because the things i mentioned don't take into acct the attachment some get to a particular instrument. they are purely from a practical viewpoint. i think of a strat like i think of soup. good ingredients are very crucial. but without good stock they will not be fully appreciated. but really in the end, it's just.... Wasn't trying to thrash against the grain, haha. I respect your opinion man! Just leaving both options open. If I were going to put together another Strat (which I might do even though I REALLY don't need to), I'd probably piece one together via GFS.

I wish DR. Phil would come out with a book like that. He sucks. Haha.

i love that pic. i saved it specifically for moments like this. any advice (to me) is just a guide. something to kinda help me pick a direction. i may or may not take someone else's advice, but it helps me make an informed decision by helping me know what questions to ask. that's what i love about forums. going into a particular activity, i may know nothing at all. but in them i meet people who help me learn things in my own way. all advice should be taken with a grain of salt.
