My dad had one for a while then opted for the Robert Cray one instead for the lack of a trem. Was a good good guitar.

Im not a big fan of "signature" equipment. I don't see the point in completely copying someone's gear. I like the idea of being ones own person, and making everything your own take. Like, any covers I play, I try not to sound exactly like whoever did it originally, I like to make it "Sean". And you all should know already how big of a fan I am of SRV, but I still wouldn't want a guitar to be like his, I want one thats mine. Not to say it wont be a good sounding axe, thats just my opinion on signatures.
I know the typical response to a question as to how it plays is to go try it out, but I think that might be a little hard to do because of it being a sig model. Maybe not, I dunno. If its like Stevie's, itll have overwound pickups and thick strings, plus the lefty trem.

If its like Stevie's, itll have overwound pickups and thick strings, plus the lefty trem. while i agree with you in principle, there are a few sig guitars that come in a configuration not offered by regular models. i can understand why that might appeal to some people. however, there is a vast number of guitar players who think there is some magic guitar out there that will unlock guitar god valhalla for you. all they gotta do is find that sucker in a pawnshop somewhere and it's like they can microwave themselves into being ritchie blackmore, instantly. it's always in a pawnshop. it's never a new instrument (hmmmm... relicing, anyone?) and no one ever stops to wonder how such a magic guitar ended up unloved, in a pawnshop in the first place. see my other post gih-TAR stories, a classic example of what i mean. otoh, it might all just be in my head, and none of it makes any sense irl.
