...about buying some pro audio stuff for medium venues and making money off of it. I know i have asked people about it, never gotten a straight answer, and i really want to buy some stuff. I can use it as a loaner and make money. My buddy has a band that is starting to make some money and fame so pretty soon he may play larger venues. He said he would rent it from time to time.
What are your thoughts

Not a bad idea. But you gotta come up with a real good way of insuring yourself. I'm afraid, depending on what type of musicians you're lending to, that your shit will never get returned or be trashed when you get it back. You need legal binding documents to keep rentals on file. Na'mean?

Have at least 5-6 bands that would be interested in renting prior to buying a system. When you say medium venues.. What are you speaking about? How many people in a venue, do you consider to be a medium venue? To me, I see a medium venue as 300-700 people, larger venues as 700-and more.. Keep in mind, this is for smaller artists and not bigger names that play amphitheaters and what have you. What kind of gear to you plan on getting?
You'll need: At least 2 12" full range cabs. A power amp if the cabs aren't active cabs. If you consider medium venues the same thing I do, I would recommend subs to put under those full range cabs. Power amps for them if they're not powered. A snake to run from the stage to the mixer. At least a 16 XLR input mixer. A rolling rack to put your rack gear in and mixer on top of. A 31-band EQ. A rack mount effects processor. Cables, cables, and more cables. Mics and mic stands. Speaker stands.
Probably more stuff that I'm forgetting. Get decent gear. You generally get what you pay for when it comes to PA gear. Expect to pay a couple grand. If you need referrals to gear, drop me a PM or whatever. I've used and gone through my fair share of PA equipment.
And what Beardy said up there.

I plan on getting an EQ, wireless mics, wireless guitar jacks, with that ill need a signal processor, for the guitars they will run into a power amp running to a 4x12 for each (2 max). The wireless mics will go to a PA. Im really sure i am forgetting something.

scratch that. Just wireless mics. I will keep the guitars analog. So then i would need some cord. mic stands/ stand. extra cords. I was thinking about drawing up some contracts with a buddy of mine then asking a lawyer we know to help. I was thinking that my friend and i, we are good friends, share the supervising. One night i run the stuff. Next night he runs the stuff. I can still make good money that way.

Why are you supplying them with amps? You're renting a PA out.. Not a whole rig, man. Signal processor for what? Wireless guitar units would have to be right on stage in the guitar rig. The signal from them goes directly to what the guitar would plug into analog. You don't need signal processors for wireless MICs either. Again, the signal travels from the MIC to the unit. The unit plugs into a channel on the mixer. If you want to supply them with something for their guitar to make sound.. Buy some decent MFX processors. Boss ME-70, POD HD300, or the similar. You're going to need monitors then.. Or you can make them monitor via headphones. I don't know if you were planning on running the MICs through those 4x12 cabs or not.. But if you were, It's going to sound like trash. Vocals are a full range instrument and need full range cabs to run through for monitoring and through mains. Guitar cabs are mid-range based. If you want, I can put together a basic PA system for you and give you options.
On another note.. As a guitar player.. The last thing I'd want is for someone to supply me with a 4x12 cab and something to power it.. I'd want my sound. Just some input from a guitarists perspective. I'll shoot you a PM with a budget friendly (if you have the cash to do it)/quality affective look on a PA system probably within 24 hours or so.
