I know it sounds like a noob thing to ask, but it's always bothered me, what does the slang mean?

Pentatonic Run is a term used when playing a pentatonic scale from start note to end note, then back to the start note. That will be your most common description of the term.

Sometimes you have to get back to cutting stuff so walking is out of the question. Takes too much time

Depends on how you play it, I suppose.

Also a term for "not very interesting" i disagree. it's the foundation od blues AND rock, which are the foundation of other types of music. jimi hendrix is all about pentatonic scale. ditto page, iommi, greg allman and dicky betts, and 99 out of every 100 bluesmen. however, hanging out at the local jam night and hearing all those amateurs who can only play scales connecting 3 note riffs, will get boring with a quickness. it's not the ingredients, it's the cook. certainly warren dimartini can do alot more with it than i can.

I didn't mean the pentatonic itself was uninteresting, I meant the runs going straight up and down. Most of the music I play is based off of the pentatonic.
